In the early 1930s, Corrado Gini proposed two interesting contributions to demographics: “centers” of population to measure concentration / dispersion of inhabitants across the territory (Gini et al., 1933), and the differentials in marriages between native and immigrant populations (Gini, 1931). In this paper, we intend to test the present validity of these tools in order to analyse the current immigration phenomenon in Italy.
